Over at Frum Satire's blog, I see that he posted about how Xmas went for the readers. I thought that I would put my own response here on the blog.
I worked and to me Xmas came and went more so this year than any other year. It's my first year back in college so, I was pretty much studying for finals a lot and so, I didn't notice much except for the few times I went to the regular grocery store or the drug store and they had music playing. I live in a Jewish/Muslim neighborhood so there weren't TOOO aweful many decorations up.
The Curmudgeonly Israeli Giyoret says:
ReplyDeleteWe did not notice Xmas here in Israel, let alone OBSERVE it. Had I not been busy filling out many forms with the secular date, it would have slipped by entirely without my notice.
I did, however, learn that it is customary among contemporary American Moslems to eat Chinese and go to a movie on that date.
Well, I'm in Puerto Rico. My family goes here over winter break almost every year. I think I've only seen snow on Xmas three times in my entire life, and one of them was when I was way too young to remember.
ReplyDeleteThe way they celebrate here? Makes Christians in the US seem like a beacon of restraint and modesty.
I quite enjoy the Xmas decorations. Doesn't mean I need celebrate nor observe it. Nothing wrong with a time of year where millions of families get together to share a meal.
