A bit of lashon horah, no? Chanukah Sameach!Judah Jacobs
Hey, if that's how you feel then don't check out the link.
This saddens me. I had always tried to ignore all the BS surrounding this man but I guess it can't be ignored any longer. I work with EJF and I pray this doesn't affect my conversion. Although HE didn't do conversions the BD does. Another sad day for Judaism because if this hits mainstream media it WILL look bad for the Jewish people. ~sigh~
The Curmudgeonly Israeli Giyoret says:Oppressing the convert, huh? There ought to be a LAW against that (or at least a very strictly ovserved minhag). Soon, halila, widows and orphans will be fair game. But we make an easy target.
Don't you have an aunt? Don't you have siblings?
LOL! There is. I'm sure you know this and you were being sarcastic. I am both an orphan and a convert. They have a heyday with me. One woman who was a Shabbos guest where I was a Shabbos guest kept asking me why I didn't have family to go to.
The Curmudgeonly Israeli Giyoret says:People tend to be tactless, tend not to think, tend not to take the weaknesses of others into account except in order to exploit them. We all do this; it's a human thing. This is one of the things Judaism comes to correct. The great advantage of being "disadvantaged" is that it CAN make it easier to be compassionate for the weak where your own weakness was not treated with compassion. It's a tremendous challenge. For a relatively young person, Michal, you seem to have great wisdom regarding the value of compensatory strengths. Of course, it helps that you have many strengths. And about that, I am not in the least sarcastic.
Well, I was upset because I asked the host to speak to her and I was told, "she was a mental case, I'm so happy my children are nice to these weirdo guests instead of noticing. No, I won't say anything." Ok, maybe that's a paraphrase.Thank you for noticing... they have been telling me I was wise beyond my years for so long-probably 25 years.
The Cumudgeonly Israeli Giyoret says:What? You mean you're NOT a mental case? How'd they let you in this joint, anyway.Even better for the gene pool, since at least for converts there's a sanity clause. (Just don't sit on his knee.)
LOL, you're too much CIG! Where did I pick you up from anyway? I don't think you're in my Yahoo group, are you?
The Curmudgeonly Israeli Giyoret says:I found you through a link at "Life In Israel". I'm not in your Yahoo group; I tried to join but had some kind of technical difficulty and didn't try again. I'm a friend of the photogenic Devorah Olam, benefactor of lab rats.
Life in Israel-I don't even remember that. I do so much sneaky blog promotions by leaving my link out and about... I get a lot of people from Frum Satire's readership. I've also gotten people from other blogs.
